I quickly found my favorites, but generally liked them all and it was brilliant how we got more insight into their hilarious group dynamic. With their own voice and motives so when the chapter’s switched to their POV, they didn’t all mash together and sound like the same fucking person ! We meet Emit the werewolf, Vance the Van Hasling monster killer, Damien the ? succubus demon guy ?, and Arion the original vampire who are basically from the 4 origin monster familiesĮach of the guys were pretty great and clearly distinct from each other. I adored her witty comments and constant sexual jokes to break up the tension… wait did I enjoy the thirsty ghost more than the main character ? HuhĮssentially, the plot is Violet arrives to take over her mom’s shop, expecting just a small town. Honestly, Anna totally added another element to this book. Violet I’m gonna be honest she was pretty damn naive, and I’m little concerned whether the bitch has any survival skillsīeing a Portocale gypsy, she has special blood that enables her to see ghosts and interact with all the monsters of the world… she’s just never met any till now, I guess What I got was a slowburning, worldbuilding, plot featuring hot alpha monsters, where a gypsy girl moves to small town to find out that every myth… is real. Gotta be honest, I was expecting full on monster smut. I've gone and drawn attention to myself, and the ones paying attention are the ones everyone else seems to fear. They decide who gets stabbed or tortured. My only guides happen to be the most lethal of the bunch. I'm walking into the middle of a story that's thousands of years old, and I'm the new girl on the block who doesn't have a clue how this world even works. Somehow, I've gone and landed myself in a world truly filled with monsters, and I'm starting to think this is where I should have been all along. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men.who aren't just men. It took my mother's death for me to finally start getting answers about what's really been going on. I've been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life: Completely unoriginal, if I do say so myself. I'm sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic.
